South Central Institute of Technology Bletchley

In partnership with a consortium of world-leading brands, including Microsoft, KPMG, Activate Learning and Cranfield University, Milton Keynes College Group made the decision to create a purpose-built digital learning centre from existing buildings on its Bletchley Campus.

With ambitious targets for the inclusivity and diversity of student intake, the South Central Institute of Technology (SCIoT) was designed to provide high-quality learning environments, providing the latest hi-tech digital equipment and state of the art AI, VR and AR technologies.

SCIoT was designed by GSS Architecture and described as a “talent factory” with training for future digital marketeers, software developers and data analysts. The goal was to create inspiring and creative educational facilities to include immersive learning and robotic labs, a pitching room plus breakout and collaboration spaces.

Ambitious Refurbishment

Built by Ashe Construction, the ambitious remodelling and refurbishment project at SCIoT uses a range of Novastruct architectural aluminium glazing solutions, installed by specialist subcontractor JPJ Installations Ltd.

Novastruct’s FSX 100 Curtain Wall System replaced the existing first and second floor screens, while new build elements of the project featured the WSX 720 Reflex Casement Window offering design flexibility.

The DSX 190 TB Welded Door System was installed on the ground floor, suitable for the high traffic areas of the North and East entrance areas.

A Clean, Modern Environment

SCIoT is now able to provide an improved technical and digital education offer within a clean modern environment for students and businesses who require additional staff training to meet their needs.

The end result is the creation of what SCIoT describes as: “A hub of innovation and worldleading technological advancements with relentless dedication to future-proof the lives and skills of learners.”

The Institute is also part of Institutes of Technology, a national network of leaders in the provision of highquality technical education and training across a range of STEM occupations and industries.
